Go native on the design

Nontraditional wedding gown via Glamour

It would be lovely – and supportive of the Philippine creative industry – if we see more of Filipino brides and their entourage in gowns of native fabric and design. The one above reminds me of a similar design here- inabel of the Ilocos region.

Local designers just need to put in more flair when creating wedding gowns out of native cloth, like the dramatic take to the tail as above. In other words, the gown need not be the traditional Western white although I imagine such suggestion won’t sit well among first time brides and their families especially. How could a bride not be in tafetta white? Indeed. Just putting it out there for those who’d like to go native in their choices.
