In a bakery, I came to a blind couple who were paying for their purchases. The blind man took out a 5o-peso bill and showed it to the saleslady and asked, “how much is this bill?”
“Fifty pesos,” replied the saleslady.
The blind man made to joke, “it’s difficult having to ask others how much I’m handing them.”
The two salesladies laughed. “We understand,” they said.
The blind man then turned to his female companion, “are you done? Have you got your change?” As he was asking her this, another saleslady was just handing his companion, also blind, her change. Their transactions done, they moved toward the exit, supporting each other.
It was the sweetest thing I’d seen.
